Transform operates as part of Biffa Waste Services, a leading integrated waste management company in the UK. With annual revenues in excess of £700m, Biffa provides a secure financial basis on which Transform can operate. Biffa is also able to provide the full support infrastructure enabling Transform to minimise its operating overheads.
Crucially, Biffa already operates within the markets from which WEEE arises. Biffa has a strong presence in the municipal waste market, providing collection services to over 1 million households each week and a number of Civic Amenity sites that will be operating as Designated Collection Facilities under the new Regulations. Biffa also visits over 80,000 businesses a week, providing a wide range of waste collection services including a comprehensive WEEE collection operation. Transform operates alongside the Biffa packaging compliance scheme, Biffpack. As the UK’s second largest scheme, it is has consistently delivered an excellent compliance service to its members at a highly competitive cost and has well developed systems and procedures to ensure that all the requirements for WEEE compliance will be dealt with effectively, efficiently, securely. Biffpack was one of the first schemes to be approved in 1997, giving it over 9 years of expertise to draw on. It has also enabled Biffa to develop excellent relationships with key government departments including DEFRA, DTI and the enforcement Agencies. |
